What are the Best and Worst things about your job?

Best

The people, the work (the interesting clients) and the high level of training received.

Worst

Sadly the pay could be better, but I guess that reflects the less demanding working hours.

What is the annual salary for this role?

Starting salary: £25,000 - £27,000

Current salary: £25,000 - £27,000

What hours do you actually work, on average?

Start: 08:30

Finish: 18:00

What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?

Get to know the firm beyond the superficial level; understand its direction, what it looks for in future trainees and make an effort to understand the type of work/clients.

Try and find a way to make yourself memorable, IM receives thousands of applications every year and there is a huge emphasis on people. Show some personality, and demonstrate what attributes you have that reflect the firm's values.

Do you have any interview tips?

As nervous as you may feel, try and remember that this is your chance to shine and you need to be the best version of yourself (not the nervous version!). Thoroughly research the firm and prepare competency questions to enable you to discuss a variety of different examples, rather than focusing on a singular example.

Think about key questions: why IM? why law? why commercial/personal law? what motivates you? what others would say about you? a time you worked in a team? a time when things didn't go to plan? your strengths and weaknesses?
