What are the Best and Worst things about your job?

Best

The people are fabulous and the work is usually very interesting. There is a huge variety of work across diverse teams and there are disputes and transactions from relatively small amounts of money up to very significant sums.
Work/life balance is excellent and support for diversity and disability absolutely outstanding.

Worst

The worst things will be common to all trainees anywhere, which is sometimes dealing with multiple small tasks on many different matters without being able to see anything through to conclusion.
However, good trainees will always be gradually trusted with more significant tasks.

What is the annual salary for this role?

Starting salary: £25,000 - £27,000

Current salary: £27,000 - £29,000

Start: 07:30

What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?

focus carefully on the components of the questions. IM operates a blind application process so your grades and university are not relevant. How well you answer all elements of the competency questions is what will get you to the interview stage. Use recent examples if possible. If a question asks 'tell me about a time when' and 'what your role was within...' then both are equally important elements of the answer.

Do you have any interview tips?

Relax. Prepare by reading the twitter feed/linkedIn feed of the firm. Use Legal 500 to understand what work is actually done in the office you are applying to and can speak knowledgeably about it.
At the interview itself the questions the interviewer will be asking is whether they would like to work with this person and whether they would put them in front of a client. Therefore, relax, smile, be polite to everyone and don't be afraid to laugh. Calm, relaxed authority - expert hand - human touch!
