What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?

The online application form is fair and gives you an opportunity to outline why you want to train with Latham & Watkins and why you feel you would be a good fit with the firm. Be sure to do your background research – get to know the firm’s culture, history, main practice areas, major clients, strengths, office locations and recent deals and then tailor the application accordingly. Also, double check everything you write for spelling, punctuation and grammar.

Do you have any interview tips?

The interview process is very straightforward and gives you a great opportunity to show why you would be right for the firm. So try to relax and be yourself in the interview. Also, once you have been asked a question, try to take a step back and think about the answers you wish to give before you start responding. If you have been asked to take a view on a topic (e.g. a recent news story or development in the commercial world) try to give both sides of the argument before summing up and giving your opinion on the topic.
