Make connections with people, make sure you know your stuff and be confident about it. Try to understand the structure of a law firm, how it works in practice, what seats you want to be in and what work you want to do, find the people who do what you want to do and speak to them. There will be opportunities to make connections in all the contact you have with the firm, take advantage. Thers is no replacement for being genuine and enthusiastic.
