What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?

When you're writing an application, list all the things about yourself that you'd like the reader/interviewer to focus on (e.g. academics, work experience, other jobs, sport, music, etc.).

Then for each of these items, try to complete the sentence: "This would make me a good lawyer at Linklaters because...". (For example, I was captain of my university rugby team, and this would make me a good lawyer at Linklaters because (i) through this experience I have developed my teamwork, leadership and organisational skills; (ii) this shows my dedication to achieving excellence; (iii) this shows my enthusiasm, motivation and resilience.)

Once you have understood what each of your personal attributes is giving you and how they relate to being a lawyer, then you can start to write a strong, focussed application.

Do you have any interview tips?

Develop three pillars of evidence: e.g. academics, legal work experience and sport/extra-curricular. Make sure you strike an even balance between your three pillars as you move through the interview when you are asked about yourself and what you've done that would make you a great lawyer. This will help you to avoid repeating yourself, selling yourself short, or appearing too one-sided.
