Yahoo banned working from home last week, apparently because:

“to become the absolute best place to work, communication and collaboration will be important, so we need to be working side-by-side. That is why it is critical that we are all present in our offices.” (http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2013/feb/25/yahoo-chief-bans-working-home)

There was a lot of surprise at the move in Silicon Valley and in the USA but UK graduates could be forgiven for wondering what all the fuss is about because by no means all graduate employers let their graduates work from home. They should though – the flexibility to work from home is a key part of a good work/life balance, itself a crucial aspect of ensuring that graduates are happy. No doubt Yahoo will experience a big drop in employee’s satisfaction with their work/life balance and employees for whom a good work/life balance is essential may even chose to move elsewhere but who are the best graduate employers in the UK for work/life balance?

Thankfully, we ask our graduate reviewers all about the work/life balance at their employers so we know the answer! Below are the top 10 employers for work life balance from our 2012/13 Top Companies For Graduates To Work For, with the average ratings that their reviewers gave the work/life balance there. If this is an area that you really value, you may well want to apply to one of these companies!
