What are the Best and Worst things about your job?
Best
The discount is very good. Customers are friendly and generally understanding. There are above average perks for retail with £4 a head subsidized lunches on Fridays, the opportunity for trips abroad, etc.
Worst
All stores are extremely understaffed and there's lots of pricing changes, There is a huge communication issue between head office and the stores. They promote to the press about allowing managers to run stores as if they were their own, when in reality are extremely controlling and allow almost no free expression to run your own store. Even with this survey, stores are essentially asked assertively to be positive. I do not like this TWAM culture that is brewing here in the slightest.
What is the annual salary for this role?
Starting salary: £17,000 - £19,000
Current salary: £23,000 - £25,000
What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?
Majestic now care less about wine knowledge, only training people to level 2. It is more about the operations and showing you have common sense.
