What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?
Make sure you have a good understanding of the Actuarial exams (i.e. what kind of topics they cover and how much of a commitment the qualification is) and the type of work carried out by actuarial consultancies, so that you can demonstrate a specific interest in this.
Understanding what Grant Thornton has to offer compared to the big four, for example, will also set you in good stead.
Do you have any interview tips?
In hindsight I think the most important qualities the assessors are looking for are sociability, enthusiasm and a bit of common sense! It's completely understandable that you won't know the ins and outs of the work we do, but you want to come across as someone who would be pleasant to work with, i.e. easy to talk to, relaxed, comfortable asking/answering questions.
