What are the Best and Worst things about your job?

Best

Culture:
The people are all amazing! very friendly, approachable and eager to answer any questions at any given moment!

Variety of work:
you get to work on different clients with different people from your office and different offices as well. you get to be involved in different projects which helps you develop your technical knowledge and understanding.

Study allowance
there is a study policy which states how many study days you get per exam.
they cover your material and 1st exam sitting fee as well as the iFoA membership.

Worst

Being involved in a project and doing most of the work so that the assistant manager who checked your work gets the credits for it.

they told us that the rating we get based on our yearly performance contributes to our annual bonus and not to our salary increases. they did however provided a higher salary increase to someone who scored a highest rating but failed to justify the reason for that.

Some people checking your work will not appreciate your input and they wont say thank you for doing this could you please update the following.. instead they will say I had a look at this change this and this with a more demanding way which makes you feel bad

Starting salary: £29,000 - £31,000

Current salary: £37,000 - £39,000

Start: 09:00

Finish: 17:00

What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?

1. Make sure that your CV is up to date indicating some of the things you have done under each position that you had - for example:
worked at a teaching assistant:
- developed my leadership skills by working closely with other teaching assistants to share tasks (this shows teamwork skills)
if you dont have any paid experience you can use volunteering experience.

2. Be truthful about your self and experiences

Use STAR technique to answer any questions the interviewer might ask :
for example :
Situation : when I was at uni of leicester during my masters degree
Task: I had to work with team to create ...
Action : as part of the team I decided to create a list of actions (this shows organisation skills)
Result: as a result we managed to get a high mark for that module.
