In terms of the application it is important to relating questions asked to Balfour Beatty to show an understanding of the companys values and areas of work as well as expressing a reason as to why you want to work for them.

Do you have any interview tips?

Although I had a couple of workplacements with the companyI had to complete a graduate assesment day before my final year at uni which decided whether I would be taken on as a graduate or not. Here I had to take part in a group discussion / presentation, numerical and verbal reasoning tests and a face to face interview with someone from the HR department. As I had already completed a workplacement by this time it was easy for me to relate questions such as, tell me about a challenging situations and how you overcame it, to previous experience on site.

Following the completion of this graduate assesment day I was told that I would be sponsored through my final year and that jobs would be sent out to me towards the end of my uni year which I would put my cv in for so that the individual site team or region would decide if they wanted me to attend a further interview.

This final interview was similar to the HR interview except either the project manager for the site, or operations director from the region would conduct the interview. At this stage it is important to show your knowledge of site activities and to highlight your eagerness to gain chartership, as this is a key trait that Balfour Beatty are looking for.
