Be sure you know why you want to work in retail. Have confidence but not arrogance, research the company and market to identify the challenges and share your opinion when necessary (suitably backed up with evidence). As with all roles, tailor your application. In this instance to a retailer - focus on things such as simplicity, communication, commercial awareness, managing change, speed, and think about how things could be done differently and why this is good.
