What are the Best and Worst things about your job?

Best

I am given a lot of freedom to pursue "extra-curricular" projects, i.e. work streams which fall entirely outside of my day job. This helps me gain insight into the wider business as well as improving my network.

What is the annual salary for this role?

Starting salary: £27,000 - £29,000

Current salary: £31,000 - £33,000

What hours do you actually work, on average?

Start: 08:00

Finish: 16:00

What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?

Familiarise yourself with the information available on the website and online publications as well as the political climate of the utility sector. As a (mostly) regulated business, Severn Trent is affected by shifts in political climate more than many other private sector firms.

Do you have any interview tips?

The general working climate is relaxed and friendly. Do not feel you have to be the most competitive person in the room at the assessment centre. As long as you can convey an interest in the work and an ability to learn you will be fine (many BLP graduates haven't studied subjects overlapping with the utilities sector at all)
