What are the Best and Worst things about your job?

Best

I have a wonderful team, which is very supportive. If I'm unsure of something, there is a plethora of people willing to step in and help.

Worst

The commuting distance to the sites I've been allocated - it's an hour each way (in good traffic), so feel like I'm chasing my tail all day trying to catch up on that missed time. Also, as its over 100 miles round trip, despite being expensed, with the cost of fuel as high as it is, this is financially challenging.

Starting salary: £25,000 - £27,000

Start: 08:30

Finish: 17:00

What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?

Understand what the company values are and how you fit in with that. Experience wasn't required, with the company taking a view on who would be the best fit for the team and the business. If you're willing, proactive and understand the values you'd be in a good place to explain why you're a good fit for the position.

Do you have any interview tips?

Do some further research into the company, or issues which might affect the company. Ask questions like "how will X impact X going forward, is there a strategy in place to deal with this?"

Make the interviewer know you fully understand what you are applying for, and if you don't, ask the questions until you do. They want to know who they are employing won't back out 6 months later because it was not what they were anticipating.
