What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?
A good foundation in intermediate micro and macroeconomics are pre-requisites for a role with the Government Economic Service. However you must also be ably to apply these concepts to real-world issues and understand how the government might design intervention to address certain market failures.
Do you have any interview tips?
Try to get plenty or rest beforehand - the assessment centers for the Fast Stream schemes are an exhausting experience. Also, make sure you have examples to hand to demonstrate the required competencies (as outlined in the interview pack you will received). Structured, clear answers will get you a long way.
