What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?

For those interested in the Technology stream, I found that they didn't mind at all if you have no previous experience with finance. I was quite up front about the fact that I knew very little about the industry (I graduated in Computer Science). In my application I made the point that I appeared to fit the requirements of the role quite well and that it would be a great opportunity for me to put into practice what I already know, whilst learning about a company and industry that I'm interested in.

Do you have any interview tips?

The process seemed quite standard compared with other applications I was making at the time. It culminated in an assessment day at one of the offices with roughly 12 other people. I believe 4 hires were made that day, myself included. My approach to the day was that I really had nothing to lose and it was actually a victory in itself to be given the opportunity to come up to the office and meet some of the team and other applicants. With this in mind I was actually quite relaxed on the day, though I could see some of the others were a little more tense than I was.

I was asked to give a 10-minute presentation that I'd prepared on a particular topic, which was only to two people so it naturally turned into a discussion afterwards. Then I had a more formal interview with two other members of the team, which was a little more probing.

Lunch was provided and in the afternoon there were some further activities including a group activity in front of some of the recruitment team, which was actually quite fun!

A few days later I got the call to say that they were making me an offer.
