What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?

Be proactive.

At recruitment events network with the HR staff and make a positive lasting impression, they may recognise your name among the CVs. Arrange site visits and gain practical experience beyond your degree course.

Its not all academic

Include extra-curricular activities. Employers want to see people who can work in different teams and can adapt to different environments.

Do you have any interview tips?

Do your research.

Find out about the company, the directors, sectors, current projects etc. and find something that interests you amongst this and work it into your answers.

Be yourself.

Consider your answers but give your own opinion, not what you think an interviewer wants to hear. At the end of the day they want to employee the person presented at the interview and if you're not really that person it will become apparent quickly when you start working.
