What are the Best and Worst things about your job?

Best

The best thing for me would be the people. There is a great cohort of graduates so it's easy to make friends when you first start. Also the more senior people are extremely friendly and approachable which I think makes for a great working environment.

Worst

I would like to spend more time coding but my line manager doesn't respond to my requests for more varied work.

What is the annual salary for this role?

Starting salary: £27,000 - £29,000

Current salary: £29,000 - £31,000

What hours do you actually work, on average?

Start: 08:30

Finish: 17:00

What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?

Make sure you think carefully not just about the job title but also the sector and team you're applying to. I'm a hydrogeologist in the water resources and flooding team which means I do lots of water resources work and no engineering hydrogeology.

Do you have any interview tips?

They call it a "Strengths based interview" but really it's just a normal interview but the interviewers have to stick to the script (which can be frustrating for all involved).
General interview tips apply so know the company and the role you're applying to (and think if there are any questions you have about what the role will involve). Come with a few examples in mind of times you have faced challenges which you have overcome.
