What are the Best and Worst things about your job?

Best

The support from my colleagues and managers has been outstanding. They do not expect you to know anything and will always have time to answer your questions, there are no stupid questions and a lot of the time, other people are thinking the same thing.

Worst

The location of the office is a pain for everyone working there, I work in Grangemouth and need to commute in via public transport. It takes me 90mins, 60 of which is spent walking if I can't get a lift to/from the train station. For everyone driving, it means battling rush hour traffic around Glasgow/Edinburgh and can take anywhere from 40mins to 2 hours depending on the day.

What is the annual salary for this role?

Starting salary: £29,000 - £31,000

Current salary: £29,000 - £31,000

What hours do you actually work, on average?

Start: 08:30

Finish: 04:30

What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?

Don't only talk about how fantastic the grades you got were, it is almost irrelevant how good you were at sitting exams in university. What they want is to see the kind of person you are, if you are capable of working as a team and what experience you have working in teams.

Do you have any interview tips?

Relax. I got the job with Galliford Try because almost everything that could have went wrong at the assessment centre did and I remained calm and relaxed throughout. I made jokes, tried to relax the room a bit and made it more of a conversation than an interview. You will be asked to prepare a presentation, so do your research and learn about something the company has done. I talked about a school that the company built near me and what that added to the community, which they loved.
