What are the Best and Worst things about your job?

Best

Really good for building experience with proper responsibility. Good exposure to senior figures in the company and career development opportunities after grad scheme finishes. Some very useful training opportunities and overall good development. Being able to try several different roles helps you get a better grasp on what kind of job you like and get a better understanding how different aspects of business work.

Worst

Locations of most sites are quite remote which makes living somewhere lively difficult without a long commute.
You are asked to accomplish results with essentially only on the job training for your particular role. This can be a difficult learning curve. Can be frustrating knowing you are doing significantly more than graduate engineers at other companies but paid less.

What is the annual salary for this role?

Starting salary: £25,000 - £27,000

Current salary: £25,000 - £27,000

What hours do you actually work, on average?

Start: 08:00

Finish: 16:30

What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?

The application is a pretty standard template for grad applications. If you're familiar with the format that helps. Make sure to highlight key basic skills like organisation, decision making, communication etc.

Do you have any interview tips?

Don't try and be the loudest/most forceful person in the room during group exercises (there will be several), ultimately interviewers will just see you as abrasive. You may end up working for who is interviewing you (my boss interviewed me) so you should come across as someone who would be good to work with. You do need to show participation and contribution however, so be active in group exercises.
For interviews, explain your reasoning and thought process where possible. For technical problem solving exercises, don't worry so much about being right as long as you can show logical reasoning. Avoid giving very short answers unless it's obvious you should do so. Think about the kind of questions you might get asked based on your CV/application so you have a good answer ready. It's also good if you can refer back to points on your CV as it shows you know it well.
