What are the Best and Worst things about your job?

Best

Plenty of responsibility and learning opportunities for graduates. In just over 6 months, I've had the opportunity to work on multiple impactful projects and genuinely add value to the company. The rotational aspect of the scheme is great. I feel really fortunate to have experienced all of the different departmental functions from time spent learning on-site to project management and land acquisition. From day 1 at Taylor Wimpey, I've been treated as a valued and respected member of the team - no matter your position in the company, you are treated with respect and taken seriously.

Worst

Sometimes no matter how inquisitive or persistent you are, there simply isn't any work for you to do. Made me feel guilty for not doing enough and like a bit of a spare part.

Be honest and be yourself. My experience of the application process was that Taylor Wimpey was most interested in the people and personalities that they were employing. Do you have any interview tips?

Do your homework! Make sure you know about Taylor Wimpey. Intimate knowledge of the construction industry is not necessary but show an interest and a desire to learn - ask the interviewers questions and be inquisitive. I was interviewed virtually during the first lockdown so many of my questions were about the challenges faced by Taylor Wimpey during and post Covid. There were also some more generic questions like outlining my suitability for the role or previous leadership experience.
