What are the Best and Worst things about your job?

Best

Company has a wide portfolio of projects and the ability to rotate between projects to grow personal experience. In fact, the Graduate Scheme aims to offer up to 4 rotations in the 2 years of the scheme.

Company has lots of structure and opportunities to take on challenges to demonstrate responsibility and peruse career growth. Brand name helps demonstrate technical competence on CV and is great for building experience.

Company has a diverse portfolio and brings a sense of pride when working on something you are passionate about.

Flexible working options of every other Friday off; or a 4 day week with extended working days.

Worst

Company is slowed by bureaucracy both technically (i.e. tools / technologies) and in terms of project management, although this experience can vary widely based on what project you are working on.

Company culture can often make you feel pressured to prioritize work over personal life.

Progression is slow as with any other large company.

What is the annual salary for this role?

Starting salary: £27,000 - £29,000

Current salary: £31,000 - £33,000

What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?

Apply early and demonstrate key skills of the job position. Give examples how you are suited for the technical aspect of the job through your previous work/education or hobbies. Be honest in your application and be direct. State clearly what you believe are your best qualities and how you can bring that into the company.

Do you have any interview tips?

Interviews are conducted in STAR format (Situation Task Action Result), use this throughout and give plenty of examples where you have preferred to be a team player rather than independently speeding to finish a task.

Show dedication and passion to some element of engineering and give examples how you have overcome challenges and set backs. Be honest and inclusive.
