What are the Best and Worst things about your job?

Best

It has been a great experience so far with my client, I'm in a very interesting space, and I work alongside loads of experienced people who are happy to share their knowledge and expertise. I've also really enjoyed taking ownership of activities and engaging with stakeholders, which has been great for my development.

Worst

Imposter syndrome! It can be really difficult when you're first placed with your client, but the clients are very understanding and supportive.

What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?

When I applied, the process consisted of a simple online form to express interest, followed by an aptitude test, a phone screening and then an online assessment centre with a final interview - typing it all out sounds like a lot, but it was actually really straightforward! If I could go back and give myself one piece of advice, it would be to do a little more research into the different technical roles and the competencies they require. For example, for business analysis, I would have looked into methodologies like Agile and Waterfall, or for software development a basic understanding of programming - nothing in depth, the training will take care of that, but just a base understanding of what these things entail.

I would also say be ready to put your all into it, the training can be intense and to get the most out of it, you really need to show up with the right mindset. Everyone wants to see you do well, so be organised, take initiative and stay open minded.

Do you have any interview tips?

In the interview I was asked a couple of scenario questions, it's important to be able to pull out examples of things you've done and skills you've demonstrated, so I'd say review your past experience and think about what you can draw on.
