Modern workplaces can be very bureaucratic and it can sometimes be difficult to get even simple things done. This is unlikely to be exclusive to my employer however.

Starting salary: £25,000 - £27,000

Current salary: £33,000 - £35,000

What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?

- Pay very close attention to both CV and cover letter.
- Get as much advice as you possibly can from your University careers office or industry professionals on CV and cover letter writing.
- Always give specific examples of where you have developed knowledge and experience. It is no use to simply say you have a skill or know something, demonstrate how you gained that knowledge or skill in the first place.
- Be as flexible on the location you will be based as you possibly can. Even if it is not ideal for you, it is much easier to move location within the company after you have established yourself as a good employee.
- By all means showcase your academic achievements, but do not focus on them too much. It is also important to highlight extra-curricular activities and achievements.

While every company knows that you obviously need a considerable amount of guidance as a fresh graduate, no company will hire someone who expects to be spoon fed everything. It is good to demonstrate that you know and understand this.
