What are the Best and Worst things about your job?

Best

The work required can be varied, and you're almost always faced with a new problem on a daily basis. Work-life balance is good. Relatively speaking, the support floor tends to foster helpful colleagues.

Worst

Although the starting salary is competitive, this stagnates very quickly. Fidessa is unfortunately not known for high-salaries, and this tends to result in high attrition rates.

Work can feel like an exercise in futility at times, and I spend a lot of my time fire-fighting tickets without having a chance to develop professionally.

Woking is not a particularly stimulating place to live, and if you're moving from a cultural hub, you may find this difficult to adjust to.

What is the annual salary for this role?

Starting salary: £25,000 - £27,000

Current salary: £27,000 - £29,000

What hours do you actually work, on average?

Start: 09:00

Finish: 17:00

What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?

Support is split up into a variety of sub-departments, all which vary quite a lot in expected technical qualifications. If you're applying for a Graduate role, ensure that you highlight your Dissertation/3rd year project as this will provide a lot of leverage if you chose an interesting subject. This is essentially what got me the interview.

Do you have any interview tips?

Do your research prior to the interview. This role tends to attract a lot of 'failed developers', so you need to give an indication that you're not applying because you weren't able to get a Development job.
