What are the Best and Worst things about your job?

Best

- Good quality of work
- Working with highly intelligent and knowledgeable people, who are also supportive and encouraging
- Feeling intellectually stimulated most days
- Constantly learning and developing

Worst

- We are not the best with our environmental practices (e.g. the legal industry generally is very paper heavy and we are no different)
- As a trainee solicitor, in the back of your mind you are aware that your job is not permanent so that is a bit nerve-wracking.

What is the annual salary for this role?

Starting salary: £49,000 - £51,000

Current salary: £59,000 - £61,000

What hours do you actually work, on average?

Start: 08:00

Finish: 18:00

What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?

You do not need to have legal work experience to succeed here - transferrable skills you have acquired from any type of work experience or volunteering are equally important. Your application will be read by a human so do not make silly mistakes in it - get your spelling, your punctuation and your grammar right. Be mindful to make sure that you are accurate in what you are saying.

Do you have any interview tips?

Be yourself, be enthusiastic and be engaging. If you've made it to the interview stage, you are clearly a good candidate on paper - but the purpose of the interview is to bring to life what you've shown on paper. Expect the typical questions - motivation (i.e. explaining why law, why the firm etc.), competence-based questions (i.e. tell us about a time you showed X)!
