1. The Best and Worst things about working for Menzies LLP
Best: Flexibility on working hours. We operate flexi time at Menzies which means we have a little bit more freedom when we are in the office. Exposure to different departments is great. Since joining Menzies I have had been involved in many departments which helps me find out what I enjoy doing the most. There is a clear progression ladder and Menzies are very clear with expectations of junior staff. They will help when you are struggling and offer opportunities to those working over and above.
Worst: We mostly work with smaller clients. Although this is counter-acted by the increased exposure, while studying you learn about all these complex situations and large companies which would be interesting to see in practice.

Best: Geat atmosphere, really supportive staff and managers, wide range of interesting clients from various different market sectors.
Worst: I would probably say that they should give study leave for all exams (not just the final ones), but other than that it’s a really great place to work.

4. Interview Tips
Application Advice: Like with most service companies, Menzies want hard working individuals. It is important for you to demonstrate skills through your life experience. If you are looking to apply, make sure you are thinking ahead and putting yourself in positions of responsibility and learning from your actions.
Interview Advice: Research the company to show your interest. Have in mind a few questions to cover. Most importantly, hit the competencies. If you can demonstrate that you already are a leader or a team player through your previous experiences, and are able to talk about them clearly and in detail, then you give a great impression and will usually go far in the interview stages. Finally: smile. An interview is about standing out so be the version of you that you want to be. Don’t sit there and expect any qualification or previous experience to put you ahead of anyone else.

Application Advice: Try to come across as interesting and maybe a little different. Be honest on your application and don’t just write generic attributes that you think the company wants to hear. Give examples of times you demonstrated any attribute you do mention.
Interview Advice: Tell the interviewer what really interests you, how you became interested in the accountancy profession and the particular role you are applying for.

Application Advice: Everyone seems to have hated the prerecorded video interview, so don’t worry. Just try to act cool with it and be yourself!
Interview Advice: Dont worry, just breathe and think about every answer that you give, don’t just rehearse answers strictly in advance.
