1. The Best and Worst things about working for Mindshare

Best: The culture – Mindshare has a great atmosphere. It encourages ideas, creativity and being at the forefront of technology and future developments in the industry, but remains laid-back and a fun place to work. The senior staff are approachable and progression is based on meritocracy and hard work rather than time served within the company. The perks are fantastic. The office and bar have incredible views across London and you are well looked after as a staff member. As a company, Mindshare look after huge brands such as Nike, Unilever, Ford, Landrover, 3mobile and M&S which is great for career development.
Worst: The training period is intense. Be prepared to learn on the job and pick things up quickly.

Best:
I am able to make the job my own and take our team where I see it being best suited within the company mix.
Worst: Our channel is overseen due to the way in which the company originally/historically has run campaigns, though this is changing.

4. Interview Tips

Application Advice: Research what the job is and show your enthusiasm to get involved. Understand that at the start, you will expected to do admin and assist the team, but know that you will shortly progress to plan and buy your own campaigns if you have a willingness to work hard and learn the ropes.
Interview Advice: Ask yourself the following: what is your favourite brand and why? Why do you want to enter the media/advertising industry? Why do you want to work within this particular department/channel? What interests you about Mindshare as a company? What would your last manager say about you?

Application Advice: Be yourself and show your ambition. What makes you different to someone else? What are your own personal interests? At an entry level position, anyone could do day-to-day tasks – what they want to see is the hunger/personality/ambition from someone who will progress and share their own thoughts and ideas.
Interview Advice: Be yourself and be confident in your abilities. Don’t stress about it either; how well you get along with your peers and how you communicate is just as important as your qualifications and experience.

Application Advice:
Make sure you are knowledgeable about the industry as a whole and how it has developed over the last 10 years as well as where you feel it is going.
Interview Advice: Make sure you have opinions about the industry and what you like/don’t like, which is as big a part of the role as having personal opinions and visions. Also, make sure you know what advertisers you like, don’t like and why.
