Helping clients find and produce oil and gas, Schlumberger aims to ‘develop products, services and solutions that optimize customer performance in a safe and environmentally sound manner’. Based on 56 reviews directly from employees at Schlumberger, an average overall score of 4.1/5 was given, with training, colleagues and compensation & benefits scoring particularly well. 

The average salary at Schlumberger was between £33,000 – £35,000, although one employee explained ‘If you work abroad you get paid a country coefficient depending on security/ work conditions/ piracy..etc’ and performance based bonuses were described to be around 8-10% of final salary. When it came to average working hours, 9am – 5pm was the norm however there was a large variance in hours depending on the position, for example, one Field Engineer said ‘…working hours in a shift might be 12 hours, but depending on situation, you might need to do more than that. Sometimes up to 15-16 hours.’

Fixed Step Training is available to guide employee in career and work. Training at own pace within 3 years shall guarantee a better position in career. Working hours are long and intense. Work stress is huge. Work load to new hire is fast. It must be said one must be willing to sacrifice every bit of the working hours in working and fork out remaining of resting time to do training module. You might be travelling from one place to another in short notice.’

When it came to interview tips, employees mentioned an emphasis on technical knowledge and ‘learning about the company and core values’. One employee recommended to ‘show your leadership skills and communication skills between team interview. During the personal interview, show your knowledge and be relaxed and get comfortable with the interviewer. It is very important to show confidence.’
