Review summary

“I’ve never worked anywhere where I’ve felt so valued and appreciated”. This is just one in a mountain of positive reviews of Shoosmiths’ office culture, where “everyone is treated equally and trainees are not left to feel at the bottom of the pecking order”. All this, including the extra day off for your birthday, is reflected in the company’s rating of 4.7/5 for Company Culture/Work Environment, with one graduate explaining: “The working environment is very friendly, with everyone pulling together to get the job done”. Such a welcoming and supportive atmosphere comes from employees who “are so friendly and willing to help”, scoring the company an impressive rating of 4.8/5 for Colleagues. One reviewer sums it up enthusiastically: “My team and the people that work here are definitely the best thing about working at Shoosmiths”. It is a company where “trainees are given a huge level of responsibility and client contact from a very early stage”. It is this “high value work for big name clients” and the fine “balance between support and allowing you to take responsibility” which explain Shoosmiths’ rating of 4.4/5 for Responsibility. As one graduate sums it up: “I have a lot of responsibility which has really helped my development as a junior lawyer”. Graduates also appreciate the fact that “the deals are of high quality – it’s nice working with recognised brands”, highlighted by the rating of 4.5/5 for Enjoyable/Challenging Work. “As a trainee you receive a fantastic level of exposure to high calibre work”, explains one employee, while another writes: “The secondment opportunities and the firm’s willingness to try and accommodate you in your chosen departments are fantastic”. This “high value work for big name clients” combined with the fine “balance between support and allowing you to take responsibility” add to Shoosmiths’ numerous draws, making this firm an excellent option for kick starting your graduate career.
