What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?
The advice that I would give to people who are interested in applying is to be themselves. Ensure that you learn as much about the company and the sector that you will be working in before the interview. It is really helpful if you have some experience in something relating to engineering. It is also useful if you have achievements which show that you have been proactive and that you have a willingness to learn new things. Schemes like Duke of Edinburgh Award and NCS help a lot and talk about these in the interview. Most of all, good luck!
Do you have any interview tips?
My interview was competency based so I was asked set questions, such as why I want to go into engineering, why I chose an apprenticeship instead of further education. There were also questions about my hobbies and if any of them relate to the position that I'm applying for. Also talking about times when you have worked as part of a team to solve problems, what interests you the most about engineering, and if you have any knowledge about the company already.
