Application Advice:
Even if you feel as though your skills don't typically match the role that you're applying for, you should right them down. Any experience where you have shown great communication skills, leadership or organisation is a great example of how you could fit into this company. I came from a sports and coaching background and now work within a Business Analyst team within IT and I love it.
Interview Advice:
Be yourself, I know its cliche but it's true. Relax, enjoy yourself and get everything you possibly can out of the interview.

Interview Advice:
Be honest and tell them what you are looking for if you are to come work for them. My rotation was not within the IT Graduate Scheme, however I got it created and tailored as they believe that I can bring some value to the company and develop myself.
Being myself and they saw something in me and look at me now I am here working for a FTSE 100 company.

Interview Advice:
Like any other interview, it is important to comprehend the industry in which the company is operating in.
Typical questions were:
- Tell me about yourself?
- Where do you aspire to be?
- What value can you bring to the business?

Application Advice:
Be yourself. Good company, good benefits and great working environment. You don't need to be too technical either as you can pick up a lot whilst working here. I barely knew any technical terms and feel I've learnt a lot in my time here.
Interview Advice:
Bring examples of what you've done, e.g. strong communication might be a strength but how can you demonstrate that?
Also if you've travelled people love that in general!

They're not necessarily looking for your skills as a graduate but whether you're the right person for TP. Much of the assessment process seemed to be discovering which departments you would work well in.

Application Advice:
The best advice I can give anyone thinking of applying to Travis Perkins is to just be yourself. It's not so much about what you know about the role you are applying for, as this can be taught. It's more about how you fit the company values and how you have demonstrated them in your past jobs, university or hobbies.
Interview Advice:
Read up on the company values as much as you can!

Application Advice:
Don't be too proud of what you have achieved. They are looking for people who fit into the company values, principles and corner stones (which you can find online). Think what you can bring to the company and how you can work with others to provide "brilliant" IT solutions.
Interview Advice:
Be yourself, they will be very helpful and guide you through the process. Normally there is an assessment centre, instead of an interview. Come prepared with all materials they ask you to bring.

Application Advice:
Do not think of the generic 9-5 office work, the work is varied within the team.
Interview Advice:
Be prepared to answer any question that you have not thought of as well as being expected to prepare presentations on the spot at assessment centres etc.

Application Advice:
Relate your experiences and education back to the key points defined in the application. If you have any work experience, whether from a previous job, placement year or something similar, be sure to mention it along with any awards. Also ensure your CV is up to date and relative to the job you are applying for.
Interview Advice:
Most of all be yourself. Let your personality shine through, Travis Perkins is a very social and friendly environment, so they will be looking for friendly, approachable people who work well within a team. Don't let your nerves get the better of you. It's not as bad as you think. Lastly if required to create a presentation, always be prepared for the worse and bring handouts just in-case anything with the electronic presentation goes wrong.

Application Advice:
Be yourself, straight-foward answers, focuses on you as an individual, qualities and interpersonal skills oppose to IT skills (job related). This training will be provided upon your chosen area of work. Assessment centre was the best and I never imagined how fun it could be - not at all daunting as people make assessment centres sound like. It was my first, best and last assessment centre ever.
Interview Advice:
Very relaxed, during assessment centre, hopefully someone you have already met or know from the company as you would have had many opportunities to meet and mingle with potential future colleagues, managers, directors etc.
Know yourself, meaning your skills, qualities, vision, ambition and especially your values and what benefit a company can have by recruiting you?

Application Advice:
Travis Perkins cares more about someone's personality and their ability to learn than they do about existing skills. It's better for you to show who you are as a person and your willingness and effectiveness at learning than it is to list your grades, though having a couple of exceptionally good academic achievements would not go unnoticed if they are relevant.
Interview Advice:
Just stay relaxed and act as if you're just in polite company, other than that, the interview is very similar to most other interviews you would have been to or seen examples of.

Application Advice:
Definitely apply no matter what your degree is in. I was sceptical about my chances of getting a position within an IT grad scheme given that my degree is in Publishing with English. All during the application process I spoke to a lot of people within the company and there were so many different degrees to create a diverse skill and knowledge base.
Interview Advice:
Honesty and sincerity are extremely valued, so I guess don't worry if a question takes you off guard. It's actually a good thing if you take your time and answer a question you weren't expecting, it'll show you don't just blag your way through but actually think about your answer.
Also, it's a really nice and fun place to work because people have a good sense of humour. Don't be too scared to have a bit of a laugh with the person interviewing you. If it's anything like my experience it'll be more like an informal conversation than any formal interview.

Application Advice:
- Ask as many questions as you can and get as involved as you can.
- Don't worry about not understanding things as no one expects you to understand everything. They recognise that it is vast and confusing.
- Just be willing to try and learn and people
Interview Advice:
- Be honest.
- Portray your people skills over your technical skills.
- Research the company as much as possible beforehand.
- Show an interest in the company and how they work during the 'down-time' of the assessment centre.

Be yourself, show that you are willing to learn and be flexible. Do not moan, try to see the positive in everything. Try to soak as much knowledge as you can and don't be afraid to say I do not know.
Interview Advice:
Know what TP is all about, how many businesses we have, think about the future and what you want to do. I was interviewed by Katy, she is amazing. Listen to what she says and make sure you raise any concerns.

Application Advice:
Don't be afraid to ask any questions. The line managers, buddys and team members are really helpful with any problems encountered at any time.
Interview Advice:
Know about Agile and Scrum, how it interacts with customer/product owner, it will come in useful during the assessment centre as well as interview. Know who you think you would like to become in the future and make sure that the company is able to provide this. I found the interview very friendly and much more relaxed than other companies, so be yourself and good luck!
