Application Advice:
1. Make sure that your CV is relevant to the role, a lot of candidates have two or three CVs that are more focused to particular positions - always read through the requirements and if you have had experience in those areas make sure that it is on your CV!
2. If the hiring manager's name is listed on the advert always try to give them a call to introduce yourself as this will make you stand out from other applications
3. Send an email to the hiring manager if you cannot speak with them directly outlining why you feel you would be the best match for the role
4. Recruitment is not an easy job although it is highly rewarding in many ways it does have it's challenges and requires a lot of hard work and occasional long hours so make sure that it is definitely the right role for you before applying!
Interview Advice:
1. Why do you want to work in recruitment?
2. What is it about the company that attracts you?
3. How do you cope in stressful situations?
4. Describe a situation where you have had to work to a tight deadline?
5. How would you sell our brand to a client
Make sure that you can think on your feet as you will often have to do this in client meetings, interviewers are likely to ask you questions that you are not expecting to see how you would handle it.
Be confident! As this is a sales role you must be confident in your own ability and able to sell your skills and why you would be a good match for the company

Recruitment consultant, Dublin at Adecco Group UK & IrelandRead the full review »
Application Advice:
Most vacancies through Adecco are posted on the major Job Boards, but it's always worth getting your CV directly to a branch or central office. With a variety of distinct brands within the Adecco Group and offices across the UK it is likely you can pop in to have a chat with a consultant without having to go too far out of your way.
In terms of what Adecco looks for from prospective employees, many of my colleagues had no previous recruitment experience, so this is not a barrier. It's more important to show that you have the drive to deliver and contribute and take a real sense of pride in the work that you do.
Interview Advice:
The interview process will differ depending on the specific role you go for, and vary according the styles of the interviewer. Broadly speeking you will need to prepare for generic competency-style questions, but it's important to let your personality really come across.

To be a recruiter you must be resliant as the highs are high and the lows are low. As well as having an excellent customer focus and a competitive edge. Highlight these areas in the application process and really sell yourself at an interview as selling is a key part of the role.
Interview Advice:
Sell yourself - really use your past experience and apply it to situations that you could be in with recruitment. Such as time management how will you juggle meeting your targets, whilst still working on multiple jobs at the same time how will you prioritise. The STAR principle is key here describe the Situation that you were in and the Task you had to complete in detail, what was the Action you did to reslove this matter and what was this Result that you achieved through your actions.

Knowledge is power - read up on the job and the Adecco Group as a company not just the brand you may be applying for. I find that (this is generic not just for Adecco) knowing about the company as a whole and showing an interest into what your future role may entail engages potential employers. It's a conversation starter which will lead to other conversations and topics.
Also, in line with the above, be prepared with questions, this shows initiative and your ability to organise and plan ahead.

For the role I am in now, in my interview I was bubbly, open and honest. You won't make it in recruitment if you are too scared to pick up the phone or make good conversation. You have to have confidence in yourself. Let the interviewer know that you aren't afraid, you can hit the ground running and your motivated.
Interview Advice:
I was asked the ulitmate question; 'Why recruitment?' - I answered this honestly, and stated that it wasn't something I had originally considered but having heard from family and friends that it was an exciting career path to take, I decided to go for it! I also had a number of fire questions asked, such as; Team player or individual? Small team or large team? Rate your previous manager out of 5? Future career prospects? etc etc.
Just be yourself, be bold and show you aren't afraid because recruitment can be pretty tough at times.

I would definitely say go for it, the proportion of graduates versus non graduates at Adecco is still fairly low as far as I am aware so you have a really good chance of impressing. Of course, having a degree is nowhere near as important as personality and attitude. Nevertheless, the skills you learn, particulary from a humantities degree where there is a lot of emphasis on structuring your points and ideas are so invaluable for any sales role. Everyday I constantly feel I am using my grasp on english language and my wider understanding of the world which were developed throughout my education to really benefit my candidates and clients.
Interview Advice:
To be honest, looking back it was all such an exciting blur. But I would definitely say try and find out as much as you can about recruitment and how the day to day life of a recruitment consultant and their desk works. You need to be ready to fit into the team and get stuck in. I know it sounds cliche but just be yourself, in the stressful environment of sales your true personality will come out so you might as just be yourself from day one.
