Application Advice:

It's really difficult to get into corporate sustainability roles without a relevant MSc programme. I'd recommend that people choose a relevant Masters programme if they're thinking about joining a corporate sustainability team.

Application Advice:

Be yourself. The best thing about innocent is the people here, and they only got here by being themselves. We all get along so well because you work with like-minded people who share the same values as you.

Interview Advice:

What is your proudest achievement? What was your greatest challenge? What attracted you to this graduate scheme? Why do you want to work for innocent? Which of the innocent values do you most relate to and why?

Fully understand what the role entails - don't just apply because you like the company.

Interview Advice:

Be yourself - we want to see that someone is a good fit for the company, not just the role.

Application Advice:

Be interesting and interested. Show your flexibility and willingness to learn. Understanding the company culture helps a lot too - yes the company is very charitable and sustainability-focused, but it is still a commercial company at the end of the day, and being commercial is one of the innocent values.

Interview Advice:

I remember being asked about my motivations, as well as a really great challenge/lateral-thinking question. I was also allowed a lot of time to ask my own questions - so it would be great to have lots of those to hand.

Application Advice:

3 years is probably the longest scheme that a person could opt into doing - I would say that being sure that the organisation fits with your personality, working style and interests is the most important thing. There is a lot of variation which means there are a lot of things you can learn, but there are common threads that link them all up so identifying those and making sure that there are things within in each role that will energise you is important.

Interview Advice:

The values are genuinely at the centre of what we do here, there will be a lot of challenges as to whether ideas fit with them. Go back to these frequently, link your answers to them and show how you can interpret them in different ways and in different situations.

Application Advice:

Be natural and honest; your attitude and approach to challenges are valued just as much, if not more, than your experience.

Interview Advice:

The smart questions are there to test how you tackle a problem; explaining the logic behind the steps you are taking and your approach to problem solving is more important than the final answer you give.

Application Advice:

Be yourself and really think about whether you fit in with the values of the company. It's a fantastic place to work but is also challenging so make sure you're passionate about the brand and what they stand for. Innocent encourage people who want to start there own business and actively will help you gain the skills needed if that's your long term goal so you can be completely honest about why you want to work at the company and what your goals are.

Interview Advice:

My first stage was a phone interview and then I had an assessment day with other candidates. This included negotiation, sales, team and finance challenges so practice negotiation and make sure you're basic maths skills and working out profit and loss are up to scratch.
