What are the best and worst things about your company?
I have moved into a commercial role since my first placement which I enjoy because it is faster paced. I am developing many skills that are transferable outside of the company, I communicate with many different people in the UK and abroad, I am exposed to more opportunities and the job allows me to keep up-to-date with the company's/division's strategy for growths. Renishaw also provides many training courses, from how to manage courses to advanced excel courses. A great place to start a career and develop your skills in a working environment. In my previous technical role, I found that the pace was slow. In both roles there is also a sense of slow career progression, as many senior roles are filled by people who have been in the role for a very long time and have no obvious desire to change jobs. You must be very proactive to make any small progression.

What are the best and worst things about your company?
The opportunity to work on an incredibly diverse range of projects, working to make a real difference, and seeing your work come to life in a commercial product that customers find to be beneficial to their work and lives. Rather a great deal of "politics" across project teams and divisions. This can (at times) lead to difficulties in establishing requirements and can cause issues for the development team in terms of time management.

What are the best and worst things about your company?
Opportunity to work in areas outside your discipline and move to those disciplines if you desire/are capable of doing it.The work environment is fairly relaxed which means that things can often take longer to do than they probably should - no sense of urgency.

What are the best and worst things about your company?
The enormous variation in the projects you can be working on keep the work fresh, as well as a brilliant work-life balance. Renishaw's a great employer so loads of people have been working there for 20-30 years. As such, people are very stuck in their ways and unwilling to change/adapt. Products have lifespans of 20+ years in some departments with vast numbers of problems throughout the product lifetime.
