Application Advice: Make sure the role you are applying for is what you want to do. Although the company is fluid and there are potential opportunities to move around, I would recommend applying for the role that most suits you and your skills. This will allow you to shine in your interview.

Interview Advice: Relate back to experiences you've had in your life and how you managed them. It's always easier to go back to common examples in your head and adapt than try and make something up on the spot. This way as well you'll be more relaxed and be yourself, which is really what sets apart the good interviewees from the poor.

Analyst, Clinical Systems Analysts at TPP

Application Advice: Make sure you understand what the job involves, it is very varied but broadly speaking it is a mixture of problem solving, project management and communication with customers. You will enjoy working at TPP if you like working in a team, travelling internationally, and being part of projects which have a significant real-life impact on healthcare.

Interview Advice: Don't panic if you don't know the answer to a question, just calmly try to work through it logically. If you make a mistake, don't worry - this is fine as long as you recognise where you went wrong and try to correct it. Don't be afraid to challenge things you don't agree with!

Business Analyst, IMA at Atos

Application Advice: Provide good examples of your experience in past job. Grades from college/university will only get you so far.

Interview Advice: Atos have very friendly staff, from my experience this helped calm me down within the interview process/assessment centres. There will probably be some sort of team task for assessment centres - remember that we are looking to see who has good communication skills, listening to other graduates, bringing in graduates who perhaps aren't talking much and asking for their opinions? Time keeping will probably be noticed - keep an eye on how long you have and mention it to the group how long is remaining from time to time. My main advice would be to be confident - but not cocky. Friendly and passionate. Bring up something interesting about yourself other than the fact you're expecting a 1st at Uni. I helped out with the interview process of apprentices and an applicant mentioned having a hand-gliding licence - that has stuck with me ever since.

IT Software Support Analyst Apprentice, Service management at E.ON

Application Advice: With having no previous IT background I was anxious at first that I would find it too difficult. Some advice I would give is that because you are an apprentice you aren't expected to know everything. You must be open minded to taking in a lot of new things and be prepared to learn. The company want to train you to their standards, so sometimes previous experience is not essential.

Interview Advice: There were a lot of questions relating to the apprenticeship scheme for example how you would adapt to change such as working in a professional office environment. The majority of the questions were relating to the role as an apprentice rather than being specifically IT related. It is important to come across as confident and try and ask questions to show enthusiasm.
