Allianz Management Trainee, Claims at Allianz Insurance

Application Advice: A calm and considered approach is the best approach you can take throughout the interview process and do your research into the company well in advance.

Interview Advice: A candidate will go a long way if they prove to be knowledgeable of the insurance sector (just reading the key issues to date and big headlines), with a lot of background research into Allianz: -Size -Products it sells -Global presence -Work carried out outside of insurance They next key step is being able to articulate all that knowledge and research when asked about it.

AXA

Reporting Executive, Strategy/Marketing at AXA

Application Advice: Get to know the big themes in the British insurance market before you apply and bring your knowledge into your cover letter and essay questions. Use websites like the ABI and Insurance Times to understand emerging trends and risks. Many candidates just look at the AXA website to get to know everything they can about the company. But our greatest strength is our knowledge of our competitors, not just of how we are at this moment in time.

Interview Advice: Questions do tend to change from year to year, but what is constant is the fact that the questions are behavioural style rather than asking you to list your accomplishments. Expect to be asked for examples of when you didn't work to expectations and then improved yourself, or of when you had a difficult position to argue and you managed to get your point across. Keep the STAR method of answering in mind. Don't forget that the questions you are asked about your personality will be tested once the assessment centre comes around. It is one thing to say you are analytical, but you need to show those skills in your presentation, for example.

Marsh

, at Marsh

Application Advice: Learn everything that you can about Marsh. Be yourself throughout the process and just be as prepared as possible when going into the interview. When it gets to the assessment day stages also make sure you have fun with it. The scheme is non-rotational and also be prepared for long days due to studying for the Acii. Be prepared to not be a broker. If that is what you are applying to do, specify that.

Interview Advice: Be prepared with the regular competency questions but also be prepared for some curveballs. Learn your CV inside out so DON'T lie or embellish on it. You are also asked about your interests outside of university/current job.
