I was never that excited by cars and I was honest about that in my interview and I think that helped me because it meant I had to give other, more interesting reasons as to why I wanted to work here. e.g. exciting, international business; lots of investment in training etc.

BP

Procurement Specialist, Indirect Procurement – Sourcing at BP

Application Advice: Ensure you have something in your CV that makes you different. A lot of people will be coming out of university with a degree - what makes you different to them? Do you have any relevant work expereicne or life experience? When submitting your online application, try and gear your answers towards the 5 values of BP - safety, courage, excellence, respect and one team. Try not to be generic "I played rugby and was part of a team"... try to be different and show how you used a combination of the values to succeed. eg. When working in a project team, you showed courage to question a group decision which lead to a change in approach and ultimately to winning a prize (excellence)

Interview Advice: Do not feel you need to have in depth knowledge of specific BP examples or of the oil/gas industry. The interviewers want to see how you apply yourself and how you solve problems. In the technical interview you will be given 2 scenarios to work through and discuss. If successful, you will progress to an assessment centre. You cannot prepare for the assessment centre, other than thinking through the problems presented logically. All of the stages are designed to test how you apply yourself - not to catch you out.
